How Did We
CONTINUE.....The Balanta were fiercely independent
people. Their patrilineage households were divided into age
groups and genders. They love to celebrate festivals and
traditional holidays. The Balanta people believed that their
ancestors came from the east, Egypt, Ethiopia, and India.
DNA research has supported their claims and found a Sudanese
origin. Sudan was called Nubia and Egypt in ancient times.
The DNA, M1 marker is found in the Balanta people, and the
M1 marker is most common in the Nile Valley and East Africa.
This is the area in which our mitochondria grandmother “EVE”
origins are found.
The first Europeans to encounter Guinea Bissau were the
Portuguese explorer Nuno Tristao, in 1446, wherein the
Portuguese merchants colonized the islands off the coast of
the mainland and thus slave trading began.
So what does this all mean? If you are a descendant of
the late George W. Brown, the late Lucy M. Brown Thompson,
the late Mamie A.E. Brown Barber, the late Josephine C.
Brown Thomas, (who descended from the lineage of George
Cicero Brown), and even if you are descendants from the late
James Clayburn Brown, and siblings, or their father Killis
Brown, we all share the DNA from Killis and his father. You
have Balanta DNA from them. The DNA goes from father to
son, and it never change. So therefore, it stretches back to
the very male that left Africa, and then to his son and thus
it continues. Part of our ancestors lives in us, as we will
be in our children etc. That is how genetic scientists are
able to trace every living person back to the original
“ADAM” and “EVE”, or whatever name they were called.
